After the loss of his wife, this homeowner took some time to consider the rejuvenation of this
home as it was a project they were going to do together.
The time spent in thoughtful consideration was worth it, because he went after the project with gusto
and a devotion to authenticity whenever possible.
Much of the time and expense was dedicated to items that can’t be seen such as supporting and sealing
the attached garage and re-working the double detached garage in the lower backyard. This lower garage, initially
considered a tear-down, now supports the back yard and, with an arch created between the two stalls
and new garage doors, provides much-needed off-street parking in the busy neighborhood.
Touch up painting, new plantings and imaginative use of paving materials put the final touch on the
outdoor portion of this project. This is a testament to the dedication of maintaining the
character and authenticity of a historic home by both homeowner and designer.
