It initially began as a hired exterior design and coordination job of the Portiuncula Franciscan Convent. Eventually, I became the sole owner of The Olive Branch Retreat, a boutique resort on a semi-private lake.
While re-working the exterior structure, energy efficiencies were added; all of the mismatched windows were replaced and the whole structure was encapsulated in rigid insulation and stucco. Where defunct 1970’s solar panels used to reside, solar heat now streams in through south-facing windows. Interior structural design was limited to the removal of one key wall and the addition of sliding doors to add views to the lake. Gallons of paint and new carpeting create a cozy and warm atmosphere.
The Olive Branch is now open for business and is loaded with Old World charm. ‘Cozy’ is now a word you can use to describe it. It is a restful, comfortable retreat for all to enjoy.
