Hygge (Hue Guh) is the Danish term that acknowledges a special feeling that is always cozy, charming or special.
It matters not the size of your house – whether you live in an apartment – or in a shoe, Hygge can be accomplished. It is all about the conscious choices you make in your surroundings and the energy you infuse into the space. It really matters not how much or how little money you have or even whether you think you have any smidge of design skill or not. Don’t make excuses as to why you can’t get it – just do it.
Even the very rich in elaborate houses that are built to impress must have a room where they spend most of their time. My guess is that is it smaller, cozy and filled with items that express their personality and make them feel good.
Perhaps you can afford to hire a designer and that is great. If so, it is very important that you communicate what your personal tastes are so that in the end you have something personalized and not the latest magazine layout.
